For the past ten years, Ryan Hamm has called Life Christian Academy home. During that time, he has built lasting friendships, competed in basketball and baseball, grown in his faith, and developed lessons in perseverance that he will carry with him long after graduation.
Now a senior, Ryan is preparing to take those experiences with him as he begins an exciting new chapter. Athletics have been an important part of Ryan’s LCA experience. He has competed in both basketball and baseball, finding community and learning lessons that extend well beyond the court and field. Some of his favorite LCA memories are the nights when the gym fills with people who come out to support the basketball team.
One person who has made a particularly meaningful impact on Ryan is Coach Frank. At the beginning of basketball practices, Coach Frank would share an inspirational quote with the team. For Ryan, those words became motivation to work harder and keep pushing himself each day.
That lesson in perseverance has also shaped Ryan’s faith.
“God has brought me through so much adversity, and the adversity has strengthened my faith,” Ryan shared.
Throughout his years at LCA, Ryan says he has learned to trust God even when circumstances are difficult and to continue moving forward when it feels like nothing is going his way. His time at LCA has also reinforced the importance of strong character, respecting others, and living with good morals.
As graduation approaches, Ryan already knows what he will miss most: the people.
“I will miss the friendships that I have made at LCA,” he said. “I will also miss the teachers because I couldn’t have asked for better teachers.”
Ryan’s baseball career will continue after graduation. He has committed to Wenatchee Valley College, where he will play baseball while planning to study sports management.
As Ryan prepares for college, he leaves LCA with a decade of memories and a foundation that will continue to serve him wherever he goes next: work hard, persevere through adversity, respect the people around you, and trust God through it all.
Congratulations, Ryan. We are excited to see where God leads you next.
