Honoring the 25th Anniversary of September 11
On Friday, September 11, Americans across the country will remember the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks against our nation. To commemorate this important anniversary, LCA’s Middle and High School History and Social Studies teachers will spend some time with their students remembering that day and discussing its impact.
Teachers will share their own memories and use age-appropriate activities to help students understand what happened, while honoring the thousands of people who lost their lives, the first responders who courageously responded to the attacks, and the families and friends who lost loved ones.
As a school community, we believe it is important for our students to understand and remember this significant moment in our nation’s history. Since none of our current students were alive when the attacks occurred, many have never had the opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from those who experienced that day.
We also encourage you to take a few minutes at home to talk with your child about September 11. Share your own memories, if you were alive at the time, and ask your child what they learned or discussed in class. These conversations can provide an important opportunity to remember, reflect, and help our students better understand the world in which they live.
