Work for Monday, June 1:
  • Today you are going to learn more about what an ALLEGORY is.  I have several websites and videos for your to watch to get the idea.  Tomorrow you will start to explore how LWW is an allegory.
  • The videos you will watch are "children's" stories from one of the United States' most famous children's authors--Dr. (Doctor) Seuss.  Maybe you have heard of The Cat in the Hat or Green Eggs and Ham or The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (I think we watched a movie version of this story at Christmas in ELL class).  Almost every American child knows these stories.  They are some of the first books that many children read because the words are fairly easy, and sometimes funny, and they rhyme.  Many of Dr. Seuss's stories are allegories, so there is a deeper level to them that adults can understand and read, too.  See if you can identify someone or something that each story represents--maybe an event in history or a famous person or a real society.
  • After you finish reading and watching the videos, go to your OneNote Homework folder and answer the questions in the assignment called "Allegory."  Due:  Tuesday, June 2 at 9am.
  • Here are the websites and videos:
