Course Description
This course is a third year English Connections classes for ELL students to help them prepare for success in the mainstream English courses at Life Christian. This advanced course counts as the student’s 9th grade English Literature and Composition course. In this course, students will:
- develop more advanced skills in reading and interpretation of fiction, non-fiction and poetry
- continue to learn about literary devices that writers us to create their art through language
- learn the structure of a 5-paragraph essay and write several essays for various purposes
- write about literature, bringing together their interpretation and evidence from the text
- learn about the research process and research writing, including basics of MLA
- expand their English vocabulary.
Students will be graded on participation in class, daily homework and in-class work, quizzes and tests, written assignments and projects.
