Counseling Department

Mission Statement
Our mission is to support students' academic, career, and social-emotional development in a Christ-centered environment. Guided by our school’s core values—Love God, Love Others, Speak Life, and Pray Powerful Prayers—we seek to equip students to grow with purpose, build healthy relationships, and become world changers who reflect the love of Jesus.

Vision Statement
We envision every student graduating ready to embrace their personal calling, build meaningful relationships, pursue fulfilling careers, and live with faith that inspires and serves others.

Counseling Department Services

Our department provides comprehensive support through a tiered counseling approach that offers meaningful learning experiences through:

  • Classroom lessons to ensure all students receive consistent, foundational information and guidance.
  • Small group sessions for students who benefit from additional support or focused skill development.
  • Individual counseling to address personal challenges, set goals, and support individual growth.

This structured, three-tiered system emphasizes proactive support and early intervention to help students manage challenges before they become more significant. Through these lessons and conversations, we aim to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for academic excellence and for success in their career and social-emotional development, preparing them to be life-ready community leaders who embody our core values. Our work aligns with the American School Counseling Association’s Student Standards: Mindsets and Behaviors for Student Success.

Services Specified

  • Academic Support: Assisting students with course planning, understanding graduation requirements, and preparing for post-secondary opportunities.
  • College and Career Readiness: Offering guidance on the college application process, career exploration tools, and access to scholarships and other planning resources.
  • Social and Emotional Development: Providing classroom lessons, small groups, and individual counseling focused on emotional regulation, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, goal-setting, and reinforcing LCA’s core values.

The counseling team is committed to collaborating with parents and guardians to support student success both at school and at home. We provide additional resources and information on our department webpage to support the important work families do in nurturing their children’s growth, and we are available for meetings when further guidance or support is needed. We encourage open communication to build a strong partnership focused on each student’s success.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.  And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:12-17
