Description

The AP English Language and Composition course aligns to an introductory college-level rhetoric and writing curriculum, which requires students to develop evidence-based analytic and argumentative essays that proceed through several stages or drafts. Students evaluate, synthesize, and cite research to support their arguments. Throughout the course, students develop a personal style by making appropriate grammatical choices. Additionally, students read and analyze the rhetorical elements and their effects in non-fiction texts, including graphic images as forms of text, from many disciplines and historical periods.

Welcome to Online Learning! We are going to be okay. I've been reading your letters, and most of you seem pretty optimistic. I suspect you are either still in denial or aren't ready to be vulnerable. That's okay. If you start to uncover new layers of anxiety about life, please know that I am here for you. And if you remain optimistic, I'm still here for you. :)

As we venture into our own unknown, please do your best with all work assigned and email me if you run into difficulties you are unable to troubleshoot on your own.

I'll post more details about our new rhythm and plans soon, but in the meantime, please complete the following short assignments by Thursday.

  1. Click the link in your school email account to open your AP Lang and Comp OneNote notebook. In the "Assignments" section, complete the "Unknown" Sample Essays assignment. If you do this in OneNote, I should be able to open it and see your work. Please email me if you are unable to use OneNote.
  2. Join my Remind class. Genesis has done a great job moderating our class group chat, but I need a way to contact you on my own. Remind will let us do that.  To join the message group, text @lcalang20 to the number 81010 . Please let me know if you are unable to do this. Your parents are welcome to join as parents too, if they wish. :)  I'll try to post reminders via Remind (and on the HW webpage).
