Good morning 7th and 8th grade! 
There is so much happening this week in Middle School. There will be nothing new from me this week; however, there are quite a few of you that need to catch up on your work for me. This will be a week to catch up and to say our ‘Goodbyes’ Tomorrow you’ll have a flip grid chance to share your thoughts. Look for that in your email tomorrow. 

Make sure to email your final draft TODAY before 5pm. 

Keep finishing up your papers as they are all due tomorrow night 

Reminder, these are the last couple of days to finish your final draft of your paper. I will be at my computer all day if you have any questions. FINAL DRAFT DUE FRIDAY JUNE 5, 2020 by 5pm

Reminder, you guys have until Friday to work on your final draft to turn in. 

I have sent you all an email entitled, "Works Cited Page." In that email is an instructional video on how to construct your FINAL piece of your paper; The WOrks Cited Page. I'm sorry I could not be with you live on a zoom call, but my daughter has an emergency dentist appointment. Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Over the weekend, you need to survey your topic; meaning, you need to find out if you have enough information on your topic while searching your sources. Be ready to get on a zoom call on Monday to talk about the sources you've found.

Good morning everyone! WOW!!! I’m super impressed by your quiz scores! Overall, both 7th and 8th grade averaged a 96% on the latest quiz!! Way to go!! 

I have nothing new for you today. I wanted this week to be SUPER LIGHT! Catch up on anything you need to turn into me and remember, there is no school tomorrow! Yay!! 

8th Grade- we will begin our new unit Monday: Writing your research paper!

I did a lot of grading over the weekend, and I've got to tell ya; you all are doing FABULOUS!!! This unique style of learning is starting to become more fluid and routine. I know; however, that this can be very stressful. Some of you have some missing assignments or some that are incomplete. I want to use this day to get caught up on any missing assignments you may have for me. If you are all caught up, AWESOME! Use this day to study for your vocabulary quiz this Wednesday. It's Friday! You know what that means. If we were in class, we'd be working on our weekly vocabulary lesson. Well, nothing has changed :-) We are on Lesson 13 in your Red and Blue/Purple book, which you should have with you. Also, like normal, the exercises in the book are due next Wednesday. Since I can't physically check your books, I have put the assignments on OneNote. Please go to OneNote and work on the exercises 1-4 under the "Vocabulary Lesson 13" assignment. Hi 8th Grade! 

You all have lots to do today. Today should be used as a "finish and study" day. I'm not sure if you all saw my post yesterday, but there is a video on FlipGrid discussing how to use Colons in your writing. There is also a Colons assignment on OneNote. I have a feeling you all didn't know, so I am pushing out that due date to Thursday! Last Friday I assigned your vocabulary exercises that are due TOMORROW which is also on OneNote. Just like normal, you also have a vocab quiz TOMORROW. For the quiz, I will be emailing you a Kahoot link tomorrow morning. You MUST register your normal name; no nicknames. You'll also have until 3:00pm to complete it. So lets review what you have today:

2. Colons notes and assignment on OneNote (due thursday)

3. Finish Lesson 13 exercises for vocabulary also on OneNote

Hi 8th graders. 

Read chapters 4-5 of Keoko. Afterwards, go to your flip grid account for your class and follow the instructions. You'll need to post a video of a belief that you have that you're willing to stand up for without worry of consequence. Make sure you reply to at least 2 other classmates. This assignment is due by 4pm this Friday. 3/20

Here are a couple examples of the Romeo and Juliet Projects

"Queen Mab" 

In Act 1, Scene 4 Mercutio goes on a rant about a fictional character named, Queen Mab. Read his speech on page 28, and write a 1-2 paragraph description as to what Mercutio is describing. You can use any resources necessary. Please TYPE this assignment and have it printed and ready to turn in by tomorrow. Here are a couple of resources to help:

This is for any of my students that were absent today. (1/8/2020) We worked on the Commas #2 worksheet based on the Commas 2 notes we went over yesterday (see yesterday's post), and started going over Comma 3 notes as well. 

For any of my students that were absent today, we have been reviewing Commas in class. Here Here are the notes from yesterday (rules 1-3) and the assignment that goes with it. We also continued with rules 4-6 today in class. Please see all attachments 

The 8th graders have begun the process of writing a persuasive essay. Their first task is to select their position on a change they would like to see happen in their school or their community. Be care not to make it broad. For example: "Drama." Instead, try something like, "Life Christian Academy needs to offer more drama programs." 

 

Due tomorrow. 

Make sure you finish your assigned reading and summaries for Anne Frank. 

Read pages 38-46 of Anne Frank. Answer questions on the attached worksheet which are associated with the assigned reading. 

Today, in all my classes, we are covering more Capitalization rules. The students were given 2 worksheets to finish either in class, or at home. Both sheets are due on Monday the 9th. I have attached both sheets here.

Good afternoon! 

Both 8th and 7th grade students were given their Vocabulary Workbooks for the year. Each class went through expectations and instructions on how to complete the given assignments for the week. Whether in 7th or 8th grade, these exercises are due next Wednesday. We will also go over some of the work Tuesday. Finally, they will be quizzed on this lesson on Wednesday as well.
