There is so much happening this week in Middle School. There will be nothing new from me this week; however, there are quite a few of you that need to catch up on your work for me. This will be a week to catch up and to say our ‘Goodbyes’ Tomorrow you’ll have a flip grid chance to share your thoughts. Look for that in your email tomorrow.

Good morning everyone! WOW!!! I’m super impressed by your quiz scores! Overall, both 7th and 8th grade averaged a 96% on the latest quiz!! Way to go!!

I did a lot of grading over the weekend, and I've got to tell ya; you all are doing FABULOUS!!! This unique style of learning is starting to become more fluid and routine. I know; however, that this can be very stressful. Some of you have some missing assignments or some that are incomplete. I want to use this day to get caught up on any missing assignments you may have for me. If you are all caught up, AWESOME! Use this day to study for your vocabulary quiz this Wednesday. Well, nothing has changed :-) We are on Lesson 13 in your Red and Blue/Purple book, which you should have with you. Also, like normal, the exercises in the book are due next Wednesday. Hi 7th Grade! 

I hope you've had a great weekend! Today, your task is to read chapters 15 and 16 of The Giver. While you're reading, I want you to jot down some notes on a term called "Euthanasia." This is a term that deals with elderly citizens of the utopia being released due to sickness, disease, etc.. This is a very tough topic of discussion and requires quite a bit of bravery to talk about. On Tuesday morning, I will be sending out an invitation to a MANDATORY ZOOM CALL in order to discuss this term, "Euthanasia." Everyone will be expected to give thoughts, insight, and opinions to this class discussion. Failure to be on the Zoom call or participant will result in a Zero grade for the assignment. 

 

Reminder: I also assigned you your vocabulary lesson for the week last Friday that will be due on Wednesday.

Good Morning 7th Grade! In The Giver we are slowly approaching the ceremony of twelves. For today, you'll need to read chapters 5 & 6. On a sheet of paper, start jotting down some of the celebrations that take place at each age (you'll need this for after Spring Break). For example: What happens to children when they turn 2? 9? 12? etc.. No new assignment for today other than the reading, and jotting down the notes.

OneNote- You should have read Chapter 1 of the giver already. If you haven't, got back, read chapter 1, and answer the questions on OneNote. These questions need to be answered in complete sentences and are due tomorrow by 10am.

I have posted your assignment for the day on your Onenote accounts. These assignments are due by Friday 3/20 by 12 Noon. 

I've also posted a video on your flipgrid to help you with clarity of your assignment. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions. 

7th Graders. Go to your FlipGrid account for my class and join the discussion. We are about to begin reading, "The Giver." It's based on a society called a, "Utopia;" a perfect world where nothing bad happens. On your flipgrid, I want you to tell me and your classmates if you were to create a utopia, what would it look like? What are you laws, or rules? Who can be in your utopia? etc.. In addition, I want you to replay to 2 other classmates' post tell them why you agree or disagree with their utopia. This assignment is due by 4pm on Friday, so by the end of the day. 

 

2nd, over the weekend, I want you to read chapter 1 of "The Giver." be ready to answer some questions on Monday. 

This is for any of my students that were absent today. (1/8/2020) We worked on the Commas #2 worksheet based on the Commas 2 notes we went over yesterday (see yesterday's post), and started going over Comma 3 notes as well. 

For any of my students that were absent today, we have been reviewing Commas in class. Here Here are the notes from yesterday (rules 1-3) and the assignment that goes with it. We also continued with rules 4-6 today in class. Please see all attachments

Today, in all my classes, we are covering more Capitalization rules. The students were given 2 worksheets to finish either in class, or at home. Both sheets are due on Monday the 9th. I have attached both sheets here.

Both 8th and 7th grade students were given their Vocabulary Workbooks for the year. Each class went through expectations and instructions on how to complete the given assignments for the week. Whether in 7th or 8th grade, these exercises are due next Wednesday. We will also go over some of the work Tuesday. Finally, they will be quizzed on this lesson on Wednesday as well.
