Description
 The purpose of this course is to develop and maintain superior skills in reading, writing, grammar, and speaking. As a result, students will become more proficient editors and writers. Students will use a wide range of tools and resources in order to fulfill the courses purpose. Furthermore, these skills will be the foundation of the road to college writing and beyond

Today, the students worked on peer editing of their rough drafts in class. I let the students know that they could start working on their corrections at home, but if not, we will be spending time in the computer lab tomorrow in class to make needed corrections. Their FINAL drafts, with all the corrections, will be due on Friday, March 8th

My apologies as I did not update my page Monday morning; however, the students have been working in class on typing their 5 paragraph papers on Brian's Song. We have utilized both yesterday and today in class to type out their rough drafts (which they should just be copying what they wrote from their outline) and I invited them to work on typing at home as well. THese rough drafts are due tomorrow, Wednesday 3/6. We will utilize tomorrow's class to peer edit. They will turn in a final draft on Friday after they make all the needed corrections.

Many students have been sick this week and/or will be traveling to Spokane for the basketball tournament. Due to this, I have decided to extend our rough draft assignment that was given to the 7th graders on Monday to NEXT Monday, March 4th. The students are to fill out their packets (see attachment) and be prepared to turn it in next Monday. This has been an in-class assignment this week, but I am learning that the students are needing a little more time.

Today we went over lesson 11 in our vocabulary books. Even if students were absent today, it is their responsibility to go over the new words, and finish exercises 1-4 by Wednesday, 2/19 which we will have our normally scheduled quiz.

To my 7th graders, I have attached a permission slip for parents to sign. It is to gain permission to watch the teleplay, "Brian's Song." We plan on starting the film tomorrow (2/20) so it is vital that this is turned in on time. I have sent this home with students, but i know that sometimes they tend to misplace things, so see attachment just in case.

Our 7th graders just finished reading and watching, The Call of the Wild. Their assignment tonight is to create 10 test questions, and answers based on the book. Tomorrow, we will create our study guide based on the students' responses.

The 7th graders have finished our novel, The Call of the Wild. Their assignment given today is they must pretend that the publisher did not like the ending of the book. They must now re-write the ending of the book in their own words. This must be handwritten, and a minimum of 1 page of lined paper. The ending must be completely different that the story we read, and should not be filled with sadness. They are being graded on creativity.

Students were given a worksheet on Chapter 2 of Call of the Wild. They need to find 3 examples of Imagery in chapter 2 and write them down word for word. Each student was allowed to take a book home with them and need to be returned with their assignment tomorrow.
