Description
Second Year French is a course that builds on the basic skills taught and learned in first year French.  Students will gain a deeper understanding of the French language through the ongoing development t of listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills.  They will continue to explore the French speaking world and its cultures.  All first year French material will be considered just as important as new material, so all vocabulary and grammar from last year are understood to have been retained at this point. Students will continue to work on extending their use of the present tense, learning new irregular verbs, and adding the past tense to our usage. Assessment of skills will be based on both written and oral work, as well as on tests and quizzes.  Along with a textbook and workbook, DVDs, CD recordings, and novelettes will provide students with exposure to and practice with the language.  Students will also have the opportunity to participate in cultural activities and projects to broaden their understanding of the French speaking world.
