Description
 The purpose of this course is to develop and maintain superior skills in reading, writing, grammar, and speaking. As a result, students will become more proficient editors and writers. Students will use a wide range of tools and resources in order to fulfill the courses purpose. Furthermore, these skills will be the foundation of the road to college writing and beyond

the 8th Grade move up is coming up very quickly! To create the Slideshow, I need a baby picture (1-5 years old) and a current picture. Pictures can be sent digitally to my email [email protected]. If you have a physical copy, you can bring that in too. These are due MAY 14TH!! The first period that has all of their pictures turned in will receive 10 extra credit points on their final paper.

8th graders have begun the process of pre-writing for their research papers. They have been given a packet that has ongoing assignments in it including their first assignment due tomorrow. Choosing their Topic. worth 10 points. The assignment MUST be completed in order to receive full credit. "I don't know what my topic is going to be" will not be an acceptable explanation of not having it completed. The worksheet is on page 3 of their booklets.

Students have finished watching the films and have started working on their papers. For the sake of time, they will only be required to turn in 1 paper on Friday. The students will work on this in class, but are expected to also work on their papers at home. I have attached the packet given to them.

Students are writing a 5 paragraph paper in response to the question, "Who is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet." This paper is due next Tuesday and I have attached the rubric, assignment, and formatting steps. Students need to bring their flash drives each day to class.

Today in class we read Act 1, Scene 5 of Romeo and Juliet. In this scene, Romeo sees Juliet for the very first time and falls in love instantly, at first sight. 
 
Your assignment tonight: Type a half page response to this question: 
"Do you believe it is possible to fall in love with someone at first sight? Why or Why Not?" 
 
Think of this question from the eyes of a teenager, just as Romeo and Juliet are. This assignment is due tomorrow (2/20). Even if you have not read this scene, you can still respond to this question.
