8th Grade Language Arts (Period 6) Assignments

Vocab. Lesson 16 ex. 1-4 due tomorrow

Vocab quiz lesson 16 tomorrow. 

the 8th Grade move up is coming up very quickly! To create the Slideshow, I need a baby picture (1-5 years old) and a current picture. Pictures can be sent digitally to my email [email protected]. If you have a physical copy, you can bring that in too. These are due MAY 14TH!! The first period that has all of their pictures turned in will receive 10 extra credit points on their final paper. 

8th graders have begun the process of pre-writing for their research papers. They have been given a packet that has ongoing assignments in it including their first assignment due tomorrow. Choosing their Topic. worth 10 points. The assignment MUST be completed in order to receive full credit. "I don't know what my topic is going to be" will not be an acceptable explanation of not having it completed. The worksheet is on page 3 of their booklets. 

Students have finished watching the films and have started working on their papers. For the sake of time, they will only be required to turn in 1 paper on Friday. The students will work on this in class, but are expected to also work on their papers at home. I have attached the packet given to them. 

I handed this out to the students today. It is important for the kids to turn in the signed permission slip in order to start watching the films tomorrow. 

Students are writing a 5 paragraph paper in response to the question, "Who is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet." This paper is due next Tuesday and I have attached the rubric, assignment, and formatting steps. Students need to bring their flash drives each day to class. 

Tomorrow we will finish the play of Romeo and Juliet. I have sent home a permission slip to start watching the film in class. It must be signed in order to watch by tomorrow. Please see attachment in the case your student lost theirs. 

Today we went over lesson 11 in our vocabulary books. Even if students were absent today, it is their responsibility to go over the new words, and finish exercises 1-4 by Wednesday, 2/19 which we will have our normally scheduled quiz. 

Today in class we read Act 1, Scene 5 of Romeo and Juliet. In this scene, Romeo sees Juliet for the very first time and falls in love instantly, at first sight. 

 

Your assignment tonight: Type a half page response to this question: 

"Do you believe it is possible to fall in love with someone at first sight? Why or Why Not?" 

 

Think of this question from the eyes of a teenager, just as Romeo and Juliet are. This assignment is due tomorrow (2/20). Even if you have not read this scene, you can still respond to this question. 

A friendly reminder that even though we have had a snow day this week, we will still have our scheduled vocabulary quiz tomorrow (Wednesday) on lesson 10. Ex. 1-4 will also be due. 

Today we worked on Apostrophes 2. The students were given notes, and a worksheet. I have attached both. Lastly, a reminder that students have a vocabulary quiz tomorrow and also their ex. 1-4 for lesson 9 is also due. 

This week, we are working on Apostrophes. I have attached the notes and a worksheet given to the students that will be due tomorrow, 1/15/19

Comma worksheet #3 was discussed in class today. A worksheet was given after. Most students finished in class, but if they did not, it was given as homework. I have attached the notes and worksheet for those that were not in class today. 

 

Lastly, Students have a vocabulary quiz tomorrow and ex. 1-4 in lesson 8 are due as well. 

The 8th graders are working on a group project before the Thanksgiving break. I have attached the rubric. Due 11/20

Reminder: All students have a vocabulary quiz tomorrow (11/14) for lesson 5. Also, exercises 1-4 from lesson 5 are also due. 

Students need to finish reading pages 152-164 in their Anne Frank books. 

8th graders were assigned an individual entry of Anne Frank's diary. They must read that entry, and write a handwritten summary about that entry to present to the class tomorrow. 

Vocabulary Lesson 1, exercises 1-4 will be due on Wednesday. There is also a vocabulary quiz this day as well. 

Reading assignment given today. Entries 10/9/1942-11/7/1942 in their Diary of Anne Frank books. There was also a worksheet given to them that is also due tomorrow. 

The students were given a packet today that has questions on it based on their assigned reading in their Anne Frank books. They need to read pages 1-12 and answer the questions in complete sentences.
